John joined James Barr Building Department in April 2007 following periods with Chesterton, Graham & Sibbald and more recently GVA Grimley. At G&S John was in charge of the Edinburgh building surveying team where responsibilities included both financial and man management, administration and business growth. John has a breadth of knowledge in general building surveying and contract administration, covering a variety of contract and professional instructions including defect analysis; insurance reinstatement valuations; dilapidations advice; ppm schedules; repair and refurbishment schemes and technical reports for both public and private sector clients. John has also gained a wide variety of experience in undertaking pre-acquisition surveys and pre-purchase advice for a range of building types including hotels, commercial office buildings and industrial property for commercial clients and institutional investors throughout the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and also the Czech Republic.
