In January 2005, the FSA introduced regulations aimed at tightening up the  insurance "intermediaries" market, namely parties that sell, or advise on, insurance matters incidental to their core business.  These include travel agents, vets and - managing agents.  "Assisting in the administration and performance of a contract of insurance" includes many of the day to day activities that your managing agent does for you.  They must now be regulated by the FSA.

To accommodate this change, James Barr have become an authorised representative of Carrick Neill, an established Scottish firm of insurance brokers.  As well as carrying on the insurance administration work we have always done, we can now also arrange for you to receive  a competitive quotation from an independent broker for your property cover.
