2010 Rateable Values Announced
James Barr gear up to appeal new Rateable Values confirmed by Scottish Government

Date: 10 Mar 2006
Project: 2005 Revaluation Appeal Progress
Contact: Charlie S Crighton
In January 2006 the Local Valuation Appeal Committees in Scotland started scheduling hearings for some of the 58,400 rate appeals lodged in Scotland as a result of the 2005 Rating Revaluation.
A regular programme of appeal hearings, initially running until Summer 2006, will bring forward for discussion and negotiation a wide range of property types. Initially the smaller less contentious properties will be dealt with i.e. small shops, office and workshops etc. After a short break in the summer appeal hearings will then run through the remainder of the year and into 2007. The last date for disposal of all 2005 Revaluation appeals is 31 December 2008.
In England and Wales, because of the lack of time limits for lodging 2005 Revaluation appeals, the disposal and settlement of appeals will likely be dealt with over a longer period of time.
