The Glenmorangie Company has appointed property agents to identify new headquarters in the centre of Edinburgh and the land to build a bespoke, state of the art, bottling facility in the Lothians.
The move follows The Glenmorangie Company's announcement last month of a major investment programme worth £45 million, which will see the Company focus on building its highly successful, premium single malt Scotch whisky brands – Glenmorangie and Ardbeg. The two-year development programme includes the relocation of its headquarters to Edinburgh and the construction of a new bottling facility in the Lothian’s area.
Following a competitive tender, property agent James Barr will be responsible for finding a new headquarters office within the city centre of Edinburgh, space planning, and designing and fitting out the space. James Barr will also find suitable land on which to build the new bottling facility and to design and ‘fit out’ its offices.
Blyth & Blyth has been appointed to design and manage the build of the new bottling facility within the Lothian area, preferably close to Glenmorangie's current operations in Broxburn, West Lothian.
The new bottling plant will provide the capacity for a significant increase in production of single malts Ardbeg and Glenmorangie to meet the demand for premium single malt whisky in growing markets such as Asia, Continental Europe and the USA. New warehousing will also be built at the Glenmorangie Distillery in Tain and the Ardbeg Distillery on Islay.
Chief Executive of The Glenmorangie Company, Paul Neep, said:
“The new headquarters and bottling facility are very important initiatives within our new strategy and we look forward to working with James Barr and Blyth & Blyth.“
Eric Forgie, Chief Executive at James Barr, said
“We are obviously delighted to have been appointed to assist The Glenmorangie Company in these two major property relocations. Our aim is to deliver a prestigious Edinburgh city centre HQ offices of the highest calibre which is worthy of the international luxury brand that Glenmorangie has established.
Likewise, the location and design of the new bottling facility will also be influenced by exacting standards of environmental quality and sustainability aimed at providing a workplace that exceeds everyone’s expectations”
The Glenmorangie brand is outpacing the overall category growth for single malt whiskies. The new Glenmorangie range was successfully introduced in September 2007 to great acclaim. Ardbeg has also been growing well ahead of the market rate and was recently named ‘World Whisky of the Year – 2008’
