James Barr recently secured the reallocation of the former Cardowan Colliery near Stepps from business and industrial zoning to residential zoning through the Glasgow City Plan 2 process.  In tandem with promoting the site through the Development Plan process, James Barr has also secured outline planning permission for residential uses on the site, subject to the resolution of a Section 75 legal agreement. 

The site has the capacity to deliver approximately 260 houses and will assist in the ongoing regeneration of this area following the cessation of mining activities.  The development will also assist in providing wider community benefits in the form of a new link road and local educational facilities.
