Project: Drumshangie Energy from Waste Facility

James Barr appointed to provide planning advice in bringing forward development proposals for waste management facility on former coal extraction site.

The development will treat approximately 300,000 tonnes per annum of waste arising from various sources in Central Scotland.  The scheme comprises recycling facilities, new access road and an education/interpretation centre.

James Barr submitted the planning application, project managed the process from pre-application discussions through to community consultation events, supervised the input of a range of technical consultants to the Environmental Impact Assessment, made a presentation to planning committee and undertook regular meetings with Council planners and statutory bodies such as SEPA and SNH.

Outcome: Planning permission granted May 2009, within 9 months of submission of planning application.
